What I Do

I'm a freelance professional, working out of my home studio. I specialize in both Website and Graphic Design. In other words, I custom design graphic user interfaces (the visual part of a web site, aka GUI or mock-up) according to the client's specifications, goals and needs. After final approval I then turn the GUI into a functioning web site using clean, semantic, standards compliant markup.

I also specialize in logo design, as well as print design, e.g. business cards, brochures, fliers, presentations, SOQ's, print-ads and more.

Code of Ethics

I operate my business according to a strong code of ethics and a high level of standards in service and quality (I subscribe to the AIGA's Standards of Professional Practice (PDF)).

Being a business owner myself, I value my clients and understand the importance of always delivering on-time, sticking to an affordable and pre-determined budget and providing excellent customer service, both during and after projects are completed.

I am always upfront about all costs and ensure that there are no hidden expenses or other surprises.

I make use of a proven process to draft a comprehensive design brief with the client before starting any project, and I make myself available by phone, e-mail or in person to discuss the project and its progress at all stages.

11+ Years Experience in Web Site and Graphic Design

An experential learner, I started teaching myself web development in early 2000, first coding HTML/CSS using a text editor and FTP (File Transfer Protocol software) which I later replaced with more standard professional, modern software and equipment.

At the same time I started learning graphic design. Specifically for web design at first and later identity and print design. My education in this field is an ongoing process and I continue to hone my skills and expertise, as both a graphic designer and a web designer and developer.

What to Expect

I follow a tried and true work process for each client project. The benefits are manifold, for both the client and me: It saves time, keeps costs down and ensures the best possible outcome.

Web Design: The 7 Steps

  • Step 1: Project Specs & Cost Estimate
  • You tell me what you need, and I send you a cost estimate that fits the project specifications as well as your budget.
  • Step 2: Deposit & Contract
  • On approval of the cost estimate, we get the required deposit and contract taken care of.
  • Step 3: Design Brief & Project Planning
  • We discuss an in-depth creative brief, and I draw up a detailed project "blue-print" that includes concept sketches, wire-framing, navigation, content architecture and more.
  • Step 4: Graphic Design
  • I design the visual assets, you make a selection from a set of proto-types, and we continue to refine the design until it is just right.
  • Step 5: Website Development
  • I turn the final prototype into a working web site, and I add the text copy and other relevant web site content.
  • Step 6: Testing & Delivery
  • I test the web site to ensure that it works as designed. Once it is 100% correct, I prepare the web site for publication on your domain URL.
  • Step 7: Follow-Up & Maintenance
  • Once the web site is published, I make myself available to continue to provide any necessary follow-up services. I value my clients!

Logo & Print Design

  • Same as Steps 1 - 4 in Web Design
  • I follow the same basic process, in steps one through four, for logo and print design projects.
  • Step 5: Delivery
  • After final approval, and on receipt of final payment, I provide the client with the appropriate file types of the finished art for effective use in various media.
